I spent most of last week at our factory personally inspecting every single one of our new UV sun protection hand gloves and arm sleeves. Yes, Every! Single! One! And I had to make some reflections.
+ Production is taking longer than anticipated, I can tell you that the team here is very meticulous like me. Maddeningly, wonderfully so. But I really believe quality of materials and craft is super important, so we wait.
+ Another reason is there are more steps in the production process than I realized. Outwardly it seems like such a simple product but the method of construction truly dictates the outcome of the quality. It is like the difference between a recipe you follow at home and instructions for cooking in large quantities like at a restaurant. The prep, batch and mise en place are different.
+ Sitting on the line with other workers while inspecting product was eye opening and active hands on learning. I had the opportunity to scrutinize final product with a forensic lens of sorts which reminds me of my former role as Science Fair PTA co-chair. I was able to make observations and provide invaluable feedback to improve processes for next time.
+ I have total respect for people who work with their hands for a living! This is fun, tough, tedious work. Makes me wonder how other things are made and appreciate the people who make things happen behind the scenes for products we love.
Totally good times!
Over the next few weeks we'll be working on the website, particularly adding product pages for our UV Sun Gauntlet Collection. We hope you're as excited as we are.
