Introducing Our UV Sun Gauntlet Collection

Gauntlets are gloves that extend beyond the wrist and historically are a form of armor, worn by warriors for protection. We all need a little armor to make it through the day (!) and ours will protect you from too much sun. To be exact, ours will filter out 98% of UV rays from reaching your skin as soon as you put them on.

By the way, if you're just joining us, welcome! We've been waiting for these a long time so here's a little back story to add some context:

We wanted to design a product we could be proud of. Functional yet pretty. Fun to wear and stylish, yet serves a purpose. Feels like you’re pampering yourself in luxury, but justifiably easy to wear any day with the thought that you’re doing something right for yourself.

Looking back, this sounds crazy like we were shooting for the moon. Still, why not?

Taking care of yourself is an investment so why not look good while practicing self care.

That initial concept to create something pretty and functional to sun protect both hands and arms? Easy. This came about a while ago.

The design concept part was also relatively easy. The first patterns made and prototypes sewn - dare we say it - fit like a glove. However, finding the right quality fabric that didn’t snag, didn’t stink, didn’t stretch out, didn’t feel scratchy, wasn’t too shiny, wasn’t too thick, AND was rated and certified UPF50+ with permanent sun protection qualities that were never-gonna-wash-out? This took a few years to find. Not exaggerating. Looking back, it was definitely worth it to be particular about quality. We deserve to feel extraordinary.

It was a huge milestone finding luxe, certified UPF 50+ fabric made in pretty colors and fun patterns. HUGE.

Next up, finding a local factory willing to work with an emerging designer with exacting standards for how these designs would be made. Then, literally a year’s worth of pattern and prototype revisions to make our founder Sharone’s glove and arm sleeve designs production ready. Throw in a few ‘setbacks’ like a broken hand out of commission for about six weeks (try typing with a chopstick, it works), and repeatedly returning back to square one because ‘design is not feasible for production' feedback - ouch, and somehow here we are FINALLY.

Bright and playful, sleek and elegant, the Collection includes both sun protection hand gloves and a longer version arm sleeves. They’re designed to conform comfortably to you and provide maximum Ultraviolet Protection Factor UPF 50+ sun protection. 

Our gauntlets are made to feel familiar like a second skin. We use luxe fabric made in Italy. They're extremely lightweight and feel almost weightless next to your skin. The fabric has amazing four way stretch with excellent shape retention properties which is important for product durability and comfort.

While we're on the topic of safety...Did you know our UV Sun Gauntlet Collection is made entirely of materials that are OEKO-TEX 100 Class II certified, meaning made without a long list of harmful substances and deemed safe for direct, prolonged skin contact. Additionally, our suppliers utilize sustainable manufacturing practices and renewable resources as much as possible while adhering to these OEKO-TEX 100 standards.

And, our collection is made locally in San Francisco by a well regarded factory known for working with the most prestigious brands in the athletic industry.

We feel good about all the little side steps that landed us here working with conscientious companies and contributing to our local economy as well as helping to keep the manufacturing industry alive here in the San Francisco/Bay Area.
