A versatile sun protective UPF 50+ Hoodie Tunic - HELIADES UPF Street Clothing

It's the every day situational moments of UV exposure that we should be thinking about.

It’s important because the effects of sun exposure are cumulative so - whatever your reason - it’s ok to let vanity be your motivator - anything you can do to protect your skin on a daily basis is ultimately going to keep you healthy.

I designed this UPF Hoodie to be versatile to wear several different ways. It's made of permanent sun protective fabric that feels buttery soft and drapes like silk.

You can wear this relaxed fit like a tunic or tucked in to a pair of pants or a skirt. Watch the video here and see the different ways you can stylishly protect your scalp, hair, head, neck and chest from over 98% of UVA and UVB rays.

My name is Sharone and I design and make UPF 50+ sun protection clothing and accessories. Stuff to wear every day to protect your skin.
I’ve been working on adding these UPF Hoodies to my webstore and I wanted to demonstrate its versatility.
These are my notes - since I get nervous - it helps me stay on track.
Last week I was at a county mass vaccination site, and I didn’t anticipate how long it would take. I’ve had friends in and out of their appts in like 15 minutes. — We were there for two hours. Outside, winding thru the parking lot, for most of that time. It was well organized, just a record number of people trying to get vaccinated. all good.
It’s these kinds of instances of intermittent sun exposure that add up. Right? When we go to the beach just about everyone remembers to packs the sunscreen and umbrella along with a hat and a beach chair.
But it’s these every day situational moments of UV exposure that we should be training our brains to think about. It’s important because the effects of sun exposure are cumulative so - whatever your reason - it’s ok to let vanity be your motivator  - anything you can do to protect your skin on a daily basis is ultimately going to keep you healthy. And you know the way it works is that it just creeps up on you.
Right now I’m wearing my hoodie with the front collar draped in a jewel neckline.
And when I was at the vax site in line, I had the front collar extended up. When it’s up, you get about 3-4 inches of add’l neck coverage. There are two hidden buttonholes in the collar, and two buttons on the hoodie — so you can attach the collar to the hood and sun block all this area.
So here on my mannekin I’ve got this hoodie with the collar attached to the hood - and you can get an idea of how much coverage you can create for yourself in whatever the situation.
In the back - it’s also an extended collar so you’ve got more coverage for the back of your neck.
When I was in line, I wore my hoodie up. It’s roomy enough to accommodate a flat bill cap.
And the ends of the hoodie are detached - this is where I’m trying to figure out how to explain this on my website - so you can overlap the hoodie and get additional side coverage for your face. As I was walking thru the line, I extended the hoodie out and created my own shade!
When it’s windy, the ties will hold the hood in place.
Then there’s a flat pocket with a small opening so stuff doesn’t fall out easily. It totally stretches to accommodate any phone.
This is a relaxed, flowing fit - I wanted this to be size inclusive - but I want to show you that the fabric is really soft and silky. It drapes nice so even though it’s relaxed, it’s not going to add bulk to your midsection or hips.
So I am wearing it tucked in to show you - I actually put on a pair of zip up pants to show you that it actually smoothes out lines. And it’s long - it’s longer in back for more coverage - i’ve got it all tucked in
This is how it would look tucked into a skirt. This skirt is notorious for showing all panty lines, and with this material tucked in it’ll smooth all that out.
So, I hope you found this interesting! If at the very least, I would love it if you’d take a baby step towards getting into the habit of sun protecting your skin every day. Start with finding stuff that you’d want to wear every day. A broad spectrum sunscreen for your face, gloves or sleeves for your arms, a neck scarf or wrap for your neck and face, a hat, sunglasses, even the little things will add up and help keep you healthy.
